Notice of 2020 Rhodes 19 Class Association Annual Meeting
Conducted by Zoom Video Conference
You are cordially invited to virtually attend (by video or phone) the 2020 Annual Meeting of the Rhodes
19 Class Association on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 7:00PM (eastern time). In view of the COVID19
pandemic safety and health restrictions, the meeting will be conducted via videoconference using
ZOOM Video Conference technology. Members may virtually attend by joining on their computer using
the designated ZOOM meeting link below or on their phone by dialing in to their nearest ZOOM
teleconference bridge number.

Proxy Process
To be valid, an annual meeting must be attended by Active Members, in person or by proxy, who
represent at least 1/3 of the Active Members in the Association. A proxy must be prepared by an Active
Member and received by the Rhodes 19 Class Association Secretary at least seven days before the
annual meeting. If you cannot attend the meeting, then please send an e-mail to the Class Secretary at
jshoreman@gmail.com. In that e-mail, please include your name, sail number and the person to whom
you are giving your proxy (for example: “I, NAME, sail number ####, give my proxy to Class Member
Name who will be attending the Annual Meeting of the Rhodes 19 Class Association”). This proxy is for
establishing a quorum for the meeting. Voting will be electronic and all members who qualify under
Article VII, C 7.00.01 of the Class Association constitution (each Rhodes 19 shall be entitled to only one
vote) will have an opportunity to vote regardless of whether or not they attend the annual class
meeting.

• Verification of a quorum to hold the meeting
• Approval of minutes from last meeting – The minutes from the last meeting are available on the
class website (http://rhodes19.org/class-association/annual-meeting-2/) for review
• Reports of officers and committees:
o President
o Secretary
o Treasurer
• Setting of dues for the next year
• Unfinished business
• Proposed amendments to Constitution and/or By-Laws
• New business
• Election of class officers
• Adjournment
Setting of Dues for Next Fiscal Year
• Approve proposal to set the 2020 class dues at $0
• Approve proposal to set the 2021 class dues to $35, unless Covid restrictions prevent running
class sanctioned regattas, in which case set the 2021 class dues at $0
Proposed Amendments By-Laws
These require a 2/3 majority vote to pass (Article XIII, C 13.00.04) – Only class members may vote.
Proposed changes are in bold.
• By-Law ARTICLE XII –REGULATIONS THAT APPLY AT SANCTIONED EVENTS
o Change B 12.00.02
§ From – The Person in Charge either a) must have campaigned a Rhodes 19 either
during 25% of the current racing season within the territory of the fleet they
represent, b) have been a Member of the Rhodes 19 Class Association for two
consecutive years prior to the current year, or c) have been a past district or
national champion. If the Person in Charge is not the Helmsman, then the
Helmsman is subject to the same criteria.
§ To – The Person in Charge either a) must have campaigned a Rhodes 19 either
during 25% of the current racing season within the territory of the fleet they
represent as helmsman, b) have been a Member of the Rhodes 19 Class
Association for two consecutive years immediately prior to the current year, or
c) have been a past district or national champion as helmsman, or d) not yet
reached their 25th birthday by the first day of the regatta. If the Person in
Charge is not the Helmsman, then the Helmsman is subject to the same criteria.
o Following B 12.00.03, add:
§ Any ISAF Sailor Classification

%5B432%5D.pdf) Category 3 sailor participating in a class sanctioned event
either a) must have sailed a Rhodes 19 either during 25% of the current racing
season within the territory of the fleet they represent, b) have been a Member
of the Rhodes 19 Class Association for two consecutive years immediately
prior to the current year, or c) have been part of the winning team (helmsman
or crew) of a past Rhodes 19 district or national championship.
§ Neither helmsman nor crew shall accept a payment or fee specifically for
participating in a race.
o Change B 12.02
§ From – The minimum total crew complement per boat shall be three for all
races.
§ To – The minimum combined weight of all crew and helmsman shall be 425
pounds.

Registration
Due to the impact of Covid-19, all 2019 members have been renewed automatically for 2020. If you
were not a member in 2019, and would like to become a new member of the class, and vote at the 2020
Annual Class Meeting, then be sure to register at http://rhodes19.org/fleet-activity/join-us/ on the class
website or through https://www.regattaman.com/. Please encourage any of your fleet members that
might not already be a part of the class to also register. If you are not a 2020 member of the Rhodes 19
Class and do not qualify under Article VII, C 7.00.01 of the class constitution (each Rhodes 19 shall be
entitled to only one vote), then you cannot vote at the annual meeting.
